I finished stitching the corner miters on the Split-16 quilt last night (see previous post).\u00a0 They lay perfectly flat and look clean and nice.<\/span><\/p>\n Only one step was left before loading it onto the frame…. I still needed to sew the brick strip to the quilt backing.\u00a0 I laid out the backing and while measuring for the strip placement, I discovered the quilt top is longer than the backing by 16 inches!!!\u00a0 How in the world could that happen?<\/span><\/p>\n Tumbling Stars<\/p><\/div>\n Yes, the thunking sound you hear is me banging my head on the quilt frame.\u00a0 How many more wrenches can be thrown in my path to finishing this quilt?\u00a0 Oh gosh, I better not ask!<\/span><\/p>\n This is not the worst disaster that can happen – at least I keep telling myself that!\u00a0 I can get more fabric from my favorite online store, Quilt Unique Fabrics<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 She has a terrific inventory of wide backings and she ships fast.\u00a0 This is where I always purchase backings.\u00a0 I noticed she only has 5 yards left so I placed my order for one of them.\u00a0 She’ll surely ship it out on Monday and I’ll have it Thursday.\u00a0 Another disaster averted.<\/span><\/p>\n In the meantime, I’m hand stitching my Tumbling Stars quilt top.\u00a0 It’s made using the English Paper Piecing method and cut from Kona black and batiks I’ve collected for a while.\u00a0 I love how bold and striking it looks.<\/span><\/p>\n I haven’t decided on the finished size but I’m half way to queen.\u00a0 In an attempt to finally quench my paper piecing addiction, I suspect it will grow to be queen\/king size.<\/span><\/p>\n Shirl<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Do you hear that?\u00a0 Do you hear thunk, thunk, thunk, thunk?
