{"id":3560,"date":"2017-04-02T15:41:47","date_gmt":"2017-04-02T20:41:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?p=3560"},"modified":"2017-04-02T15:53:10","modified_gmt":"2017-04-02T20:53:10","slug":"more-knitting-finishes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?p=3560","title":{"rendered":"More knitting finishes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Though my days continue to be busy, at night I<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Navy-toe-blue-socks.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-3562\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Navy-toe-blue-socks.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"434\" \/><\/a> still squeeze in a little time for knitting.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past few weeks, I&#8217;ve worked on another pair of socks for Jacob.\u00a0 He liked the first pair so much, it was easy to start another and with socks, the more you make them, the easier the task.<\/p>\n<p>Because I had ordered only one skein of this yarn (On-Line Supersocke brand in their Desert blue color), as I knitted the first sock, I became very concerned there would not be enough yarn to finish the second.\u00a0 Upon discovering matching yarn was not available, I quickly ordered\u00a0 solid navy blue yarn (Knit Pick&#8217;s Stroll) for the toes and I like the way they turned out.\u00a0 Upon completion, I discovered there was probably just enough of the original yarn but I&#8217;d prefer to have a little leftover for future darning (if needed) than to sweat while playing &#8216;Yarn Chicken&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Learning to make socks has been a long-term goal for me.\u00a0 When I first learned to knit many moons ago (before my decades-long hiatus), I decided that knitting fisherman knit sweaters and learning to knit socks proved one had a full comprehension of knitting.\u00a0 Fisherman knitting (with lots of cable styles) was accomplished during my first knitting life when I made several for my family.\u00a0 When I returned to knitting, I was determined to learn sock making.\u00a0 This second pair is without mistakes so I feel there is no need to fear anything about knitting.\u00a0 I will be starting my third pair shortly, as soon as I decide the pattern, yarn and recipient.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/3-more-cloths.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-3561\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/3-more-cloths.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"203\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 I have several of each from which to choose.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime (and because they are so popular), I&#8217;m knitting more washcloths.\u00a0 Pictured are the three latest and a fourth is nearing completion.\u00a0 I now have several for myself too!\u00a0 Yippee!<\/p>\n<p>Some radical weather came through here this morning.\u00a0 In less than 4 hours, we received 5 inches of rain, a fair amount of hail, winds and tornado warnings.\u00a0 Thankfully, the weather system has passed only leaving behind well-watered trees and grass.\u00a0 I&#8217;m hoping some of the Junebugs and pollen have been washed away!<\/p>\n<p>Hope your first full week of April is a cheerful one!<\/p>\n<p>Shirl<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Though my days continue to be busy, at night I still squeeze in a little time for knitting.
