{"id":3522,"date":"2017-02-25T16:31:45","date_gmt":"2017-02-25T22:31:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?p=3522"},"modified":"2017-02-26T00:02:24","modified_gmt":"2017-02-26T06:02:24","slug":"3522","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?p=3522","title":{"rendered":"Tail kicking knitting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m finding it rather amazing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/first-sock-done.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-3523\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/first-sock-done.jpg\" alt=\"SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES\" width=\"300\" height=\"453\" \/><\/a>that knitting socks is a butt-kicking experience.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve finished this first sock after ripping large sections out 7 times only to achieve a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>FAR<\/strong><\/span> less-than-perfect sock.\u00a0 Mistakes abound!!<\/p>\n<p>Onward and upward!<\/p>\n<p>I have begun knitting this sock&#8217;s mate (with fewer mistakes, thus far) and if it turns out nice, I&#8217;ll frog (rip-it, rip-it) this first sock and re-use the yarn to make a new one.\u00a0 I am determined to successfully knit a pair of socks, though I truly can&#8217;t explain why.<\/p>\n<p>Here in Texas, I live most of the year in sandals and flip-flops and I already own a drawer full of socks to wear on rare cold days.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t make a lot of sense that I&#8217;m hell-bent to knit socks&#8230;. but it&#8217;s the challenge.\u00a0 In my mind, if one can successfully knit socks (with all the fiddly components), one is an accomplished knitter.\u00a0 It also offers experience using fine-gauge fingering yarn, I&#8217;ve seldom used in the past.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m learning that my radical allergy to wool either has eased as I&#8217;ve aged or this particular yarn (75% Merino Superwash wool, 25% Polyamide) doesn&#8217;t trigger itchy hives.\u00a0 That&#8217;s definitely good news after spending a lifetime avoiding yarn and fabric I&#8217;ve loved when I see it contains any wool.\u00a0 I&#8217;m excited to be opening my fiber horizons!<\/p>\n<p>There was more washcloth knitting done recently.\u00a0 I gave a few away as Valentine&#8217;s gifts and have received great reviews and requests for more.\u00a0 I failed to take photos of some of them <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/waffle-washcloth.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-3524\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/waffle-washcloth.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"295\" \/><\/a>but this one is the newest.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve already purchased yarn to make a few more.\u00a0 I love them for their mindless knitting and the resulting useful and pretty products.\u00a0 They make a great pairing with my homemade, luxury soap.<\/p>\n<p>Hope the remainder of your weekend is filled with happiness!<\/p>\n<p>Shirl<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m finding it rather amazing that knitting socks is a butt-kicking experience.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve finished this first sock after ripping large sections out 7 times only to achieve a FAR less-than-perfect sock.\u00a0 Mistakes abound!!
