{"id":3107,"date":"2016-03-31T15:30:59","date_gmt":"2016-03-31T20:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?p=3107"},"modified":"2016-03-31T15:31:28","modified_gmt":"2016-03-31T20:31:28","slug":"3107","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?p=3107","title":{"rendered":"SNAKE!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I love the slower pace of living in the country.\u00a0 I love never hearing a car alarm and never feeling the need to set one.\u00a0 It&#8217;s so peacefully quiet here, we seldom listen to music and never watch TV.\u00a0 We like the sound of silence (accompanied by birds or crickets or frogs).\u00a0 We also love no traffic jams, long lines at the store and knowing our delivery drivers&#8217; names.\u00a0 It&#8217;s really a laid-back existence&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>UNTIL LAST EVENING&#8230;.. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/snake1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3114\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/snake1.jpg\" alt=\"snake1\" width=\"288\" height=\"161\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dinner was simmering on the stove (Smothered Cabbage and Sausage) and I was sitting at my desk reading some Facebook posts when I heard &#8216;splat&#8217;.\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t loud but unfamiliar.\u00a0 I thought about it for a minute then turned to see what may have made the noise.\u00a0 I discovered a 3 foot long dark-colored snake in the doorway leading to the master bedroom\/bath.\u00a0 I grabbed the first thing near (the white plastic tote lid) and threw it.\u00a0 Not effective!\u00a0 The second thing I grabbed was my cellphone (so I could take a photo &#8211;
