with a vengence"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_2726\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 350px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Unfinished-blue-stripe-seersucker.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2726\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Unfinished-blue-stripe-seersucker.jpg\" alt=\"SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES\" width=\"350\" height=\"568\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Shirt #19 (seersucker)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Summer has definitely arrived in East Texas with daily temperatures breaking the century mark for the past 2 weeks and no end in sight.\u00a0 Even after biblical, record rains throughout Spring, we are now watching the skies, hoping for rain.\u00a0 Our colder-than-normal Winter is only a distant memory as we chase air conditioning while hiding from the sun.\u00a0 Texas!\u00a0 No need to say more!<\/p>\n<p>Along with these dog days has come laziness and lack of ambition.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve accomplished little recently and I use the heat as my excuse.\u00a0 I have only started making shirt #19.\u00a0 It&#8217;s another seersucker with contrasting collar stand and backside of the shark tail collar.\u00a0 It has a chevron pocket.\u00a0 All that&#8217;s left is to insert the sleeves, sew and flat-felled the side seams, construct buttonholes, add buttons and hem.\u00a0 Frankly, that&#8217;s a 2-3 hour easy job which I have no ambition to complete today.\u00a0 Shame on me!<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, I canned some chicken soup.\u00a0 It&#8217;s SO easy to do.\u00a0 I cooked 10 chicken thighs in water with seasoning, chopped onions, a bay leaf and celery to make a flavorful broth.\u00a0 I deboned and chopped the chicken, chopped more onion and celery which I inserted into quart jars along with a couple of tablespoons of frozen corn and frozen peas.\u00a0 I ladled hot broth into the partially filled jars, wiped the tops and added lids and rings.\u00a0 I processed the jars in my pressure canner for 1 \u00bd hours.\u00a0 Each of the 7 quart jars is a beginning to a wonderful, homemade chicken soup.\u00a0 As we heat a jar for a meal, I can add rice, barley, noodles, dumplings, etc. according to what we desire at the time.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll have a terrific homemade, hearty, healthy dinner in a matter of minutes.\u00a0 (I LOVE deliciousness especially when it&#8217;s quick and easy!!!)<\/p>\n<p>After making room for the chicken soup on the shelf, I notice we have no more space for jars.\u00a0 The freezers are also packed full so I need to stop putting up so much and start eating some of it.\u00a0 It&#8217;s time to chomp down on some of this accumulation of fresh, wholesome food.\u00a0 I&#8217;m down!<\/p>\n<p>Stay cool!<\/p>\n<p>Shirl<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Summer has definitely arrived in East Texas with daily temperatures breaking the century mark for the past 2 weeks and no end in sight.\u00a0 Even after biblical, record rains throughout Spring, we are now watching the skies, hoping for rain.\u00a0 Our colder-than-normal Winter is only a distant memory as we chase air conditioning while hiding<span class=\"more-excerpt\"><a class=\"more-excerpt-link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?p=2731\"> (continue reading&#8230;)  <\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[28,39,13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2731"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=2731"}],"version-history":[{"count":12,"href":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2731\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":2743,"href":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2731\/revisions\/2743"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=2731"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=2731"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=2731"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
