{"id":2117,"date":"2014-05-23T16:43:04","date_gmt":"2014-05-23T21:43:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?p=2117"},"modified":"2016-08-31T13:30:55","modified_gmt":"2016-08-31T18:30:55","slug":"baby-tomatoes-and-shirts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?p=2117","title":{"rendered":"Baby tomatoes and shirts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It&#8217;s been another quiet but productive week on our hill.<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/first-tomatoes-052114.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2119\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/first-tomatoes-052114.jpg\" alt=\"Baby tomatoes\" width=\"314\" height=\"262\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I&#8217;ve enjoyed walking in the garden each morning and though we&#8217;ve\u00a0\u00a0 planted very few snow peas, we&#8217;ve managed to have several meals of them and I&#8217;ve put 2 quarts in the freezer for future cooking.\u00a0 Since the weather is remaining cool in the evenings, I suspect there may be another quart of two to freeze before the season ends.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Shirt #6 (gingham seersucker)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The tomato plants are thriving.\u00a0 They have loved the weekly heavy rains and we&#8217;ve fed them with organic, rich soil from our compost pile.\u00a0 They are happy plants and have begun gifting us with baby tomatoes.\u00a0 My mouth is already watering thinking of the flavor the ripe beauties will have.\u00a0 I hope the production is large enough so I might can some but I do plan to purchase more to restock the pantry with home canned tomatoes.\u00a0 As long as our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/blue-seersucker-shirt-and-collar.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2118 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/blue-seersucker-shirt-and-collar.jpg\" alt=\"blue seersucker shirt and collar\" width=\"314\" height=\"470\" \/><\/a>weekly rains continue, tomatoes should be plentiful in our area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I&#8217;ve also done more sewing this week.\u00a0 Not surprising, I&#8217;ve made another shirt for Jacob.\u00a0 He likes the green seersucker shirt so much, I decided he needs a blue one.\u00a0 I rounded the collar a bit and made both sides of the collar stand a matching solid blue.\u00a0 I&#8217;m proud of how it turned out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The next shirt I plan to make will be a white with red pinstripes long sleeve dress shirt.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not fond of making long sleeves because of the cuffs and sleeve plackets but after making one shirt, I&#8217;ll be cured of that dread.\u00a0 It&#8217;s all a matter of one stitch after another&#8230;. nothing more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I wish for everyone a happy and safe Memorial holiday weekend.\u00a0 We have no special plans but our days will be filled with activities we love.\u00a0 Have a fun one!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Shirl<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been another quiet but productive week on our hill.
