{"id":2049,"date":"2014-05-16T01:01:55","date_gmt":"2014-05-16T06:01:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?p=2049"},"modified":"2015-07-22T13:09:34","modified_gmt":"2015-07-22T18:09:34","slug":"i-may-have-been-quiet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?p=2049","title":{"rendered":"I may have been quiet&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8230;but it doesn&#8217;t mean I haven&#8217;t been doing stuff!<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2048\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 275px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Gingham-shirt.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2048\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Gingham-shirt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"440\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Shirt #5 (gingham)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Each morning, I head toward the garden to harvest the day&#8217;s snow peas.\u00a0 Because we planted only a few plants, it takes several day&#8217;s pickings to make a dish.\u00a0 My favorite is steamed snow peas, spinach, mushrooms, carrots and shrimp served over flavored jasmine rice.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t think of anything more tasty!\u00a0 DH and I both LOVE it!\u00a0 I&#8217;ll be making it again this weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I&#8217;ve continued sewing shirts for Jacob.\u00a0 This is the newest creation, made using black\/white gingham originally purchased for repairing an antique quilt.\u00a0 Since I bought WAY more than needed for the quilt, I decided to make a shirt with the extra fabric.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In an attempt to make something different, I cut 1\/2 of the left front on the bias and attached with a French seam.\u00a0 I then cut the pocket on the bias and placed it so it would align with the bias panel.\u00a0 By doing this, one half of the pocket nearly disappears.\u00a0 I also cut the back yoke and yoke lining on the bias for further interest.\u00a0 The inner collar stand is a black printed fabric.\u00a0 The seams are flat felled so no raw edges exist.\u00a0 It may be a busy shirt but it&#8217;s well made.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I&#8217;ve also been doing some extra cooking.\u00a0 Instead of making the usual 10-12 entrees on our normal rotation, I&#8217;ve been checking out and trying new recipes.\u00a0 Thus far, we&#8217;ve REALLY liked everything I&#8217;ve tried!\u00a0 After preparing a new dish, I make changes I feel will improve the flavor and soon, make it again.\u00a0 When I&#8217;m completely satisfied with the improvements, I type it for my own recipe book and include photos.\u00a0 Along with my old tried-n-true entrees, I share these new recipes with family and friends.\u00a0 I do enjoy cooking (and eating) good food!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">That&#8217;s about all going on around here.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve had a couple of roofers come out to give us estimates for a new roof.\u00a0 Gosh, LOTS of money!\u00a0 I continue to read each day and usually find time to work on a quilt and watch movies.\u00a0 The days are always filled.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We&#8217;re looking forward to a weekend visit from Jacob.\u00a0\u00a0 Can hardly wait to see him!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Shirl<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;but it doesn&#8217;t mean I haven&#8217;t been doing stuff!
