{"id":1987,"date":"2014-03-05T00:08:21","date_gmt":"2014-03-05T06:08:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?p=1987"},"modified":"2015-07-22T12:45:47","modified_gmt":"2015-07-22T17:45:47","slug":"sewing-to-keep-warm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?p=1987","title":{"rendered":"Sewing to keep warm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We are thawing from our most<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Jake-Shirt-Kinda.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1988\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Jake-Shirt-Kinda.jpg\" alt=\"Jake Shirt Kinda\" width=\"468\" height=\"651\" \/><\/a> recent winter ice experience.\u00a0 This <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">makes the 5th ice storm this season and if that doesn&#8217;t set a record, it should.\u00a0 I totally dread seeing our third high heating bill when usually this time of year offers relief from them.\u00a0 I won&#8217;t complain.\u00a0 I&#8217;m fully aware when summer arrives with a blast like a steel foundry, I&#8217;ll pine for cooler weather.\u00a0 Every cold day postpones hot, humid, sweaty misery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Since the winter appears to be lingering, Bob decided to go ahead and plant snow peas.\u00a0 They should have been in the ground in late January or early February but if our Spring arrives late (as it seems it will do), they still may get the opportunity to produce.\u00a0 I certainly hope so.\u00a0 There&#8217;s nothing finer than lightly steamed freshly-picked snow peas with shrimp and butter.\u00a0 Oh YUM!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This week, I&#8217;ve been busily sewing a new shirt for Jacob.\u00a0 He needs new things for his new job and requested I make some conservative, professional-looking shirts.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve finished one and will wait until he tries it on before making more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll admit I found making the shirt challenging.\u00a0 Though I&#8217;ve made many, many dozens of shirts, it&#8217;s been a while.\u00a0 Techniques that were once automatic, required head scratching and close study to remember.\u00a0 Now that it&#8217;s all come back, I&#8217;m ready to make more.\u00a0 Men&#8217;s shirts are FUN!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1984\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 400px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Winding-Ways-Sofa-Quilt-030412.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1984 \" src=\"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Winding-Ways-Sofa-Quilt-030412.jpg\" alt=\"Winding Ways Sofa Quilt 62&quot;
