{"id":1907,"date":"2013-12-22T21:53:29","date_gmt":"2013-12-23T03:53:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?page_id=1907"},"modified":"2014-05-16T01:30:18","modified_gmt":"2014-05-16T06:30:18","slug":"2013-log-cabin-sofa-quilt","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.shirlsu.com\/?page_id=1907","title":{"rendered":"2013 &#8211; Log Cabin Sofa Quilt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>11\/12\/13:<\/strong>\u00a0 After finishing the piecing on Tumbling Stars and dreading appliqueing the borders onto it (I truly don&#8217;t like appliqueing!), I began thinking about making a quickie quilt for snuggling on a sofa.\u00a0 We don&#8217;t have a sofa so I only guessed on a size.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It was stitched on my vintage Singer 301a machine.\u00a0 The fabric strips measure \u00be&#8221; after sewing, allowing use of lots of colorful strips in a smallish quilt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>12\/2\/13:<\/strong> \u00a0 I&#8217;m very nearly finished with the main part of the top.\u00a0 Lots of fabric cutting was involved because I don&#8217;t keep this size strips on hand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I&#8217;ll add a solid thin frame (maybe black) and a pieced border.\u00a0 I have gazillions of half square triangles left from other projects so I&#8217;ll hopefully make the border from them.\u00a0 I&#8217;m seriously considering machine quilting as quilting by hand takes much more time than I want to invest in this simple quilt.\u00a0 I also want it to be very durable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>12\/9\/13<\/strong><strong class=\"size-full wp-image-1859\">:\u00a0 <\/strong>After giving much thought to machine quilting, I decided to hand quilt this top in a hoop (since the frame is otherwise engaged).\u00a0 I have little experience machine quilting and didn&#8217;t want to take a chance of ruining it.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve decided to give the finished quilt as a Christmas gift.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll see if I can possibly finish it by then&#8230;..
